Orange Tint

When I got up to go to the kitchen I noticed an orange glow coming from the windows. I have never seen the sky this color before. So I grabbed my camera and ran outside. I debated whether or not I could make it to the lake to capture this glow over the water but time was against me. :(

The unedited photos from just a few mintes ago.

Playing Around

I have found that there are not enough hours in the day now that I have started playing around with the photo editing feature on my computer. I'm playing with thousands upon thousands of pictures and I have to try just about every option that is available to me. Don't I? And I'm pretty sure I will not be getting any sleep once I install photo shop.

Here is a little sampling of what I have been doing.

Original unedited photo.

Added the metallic special effect. I have been trying to find a picture that would work with this effect.

Added the soft glow special effect.

And I could go on and on but I won't.

Tonight's Sunset at the Lake

Terry and I headed back to the lake a few minutes ago to watch the sunset. Here are some unedited photos.

The island in the picture is where I took Terry's pictures this afternoon.

Terry and Grapevine Lake

Terry and I were able to hang out after work today and we decided to go to the lake to goof around. I, like always, had my camera and snapped a few pictures. I made Terry sit on a cliff while I played with some angles. I'm not going to post those since she was eating at the time. Here are a few pictures from today.

A new cove that we found. (Overexposed)

Note to self: next time do NOT get flip flops wet when trying to climb on rocks and take pictures.

Especially when you have to climb back up this carrying your SLR digital camera.

I like this picture with the dead trees faded in the background.

Once she was done eating I had her lay down on the cliff while I tried a few more angles.

Terry laughing at me as I almost fell into the lake. Not funny!

Four Hands?

Tonight as Bob and where driving around we saw some kids riding their bikes. One of the kids was riding without her hands on the handle bars. Bob made a coment how she needs to have both hands on the bars. I started to laugh and told him I could not wait until he has a kid who decides to ride "hands free." He said his kids are going to be required to have all fours hands on the wheel. FOUR HANDS? I start to laugh and inform him that human kids only have two hands. (Unlike our pups.)

Be Still

The last time we watched Caden I was able to retreat to their backyard for some quiet time. (After I put the little man down for a nap and while Bob watched TV.) While I was outside journaling a little rabbit came up right beside me. We both stared at each other and then he went about his business of eating grass. Then a squirrel came over and played around one of the trees. As I sat there I could help but be in awe of God’s creation.

God placed me and those two little creatures there at that exact moment. It was a simple little moment but one that touched my heart. I can’t explain it. I just enjoyed the peacefulness of it all. I wasn’t in a hurry to go anywhere or to do anything. I was able to sit back and enjoy God’s creation.

After that weekend I have found myself drawn to the lake more and more often. I have gone there to explore and take pictures. Last week I went to a different area with the full intent of take some more pictures. As I grabbed my camera I realized I left all three of my memory cards at home. So I left my camera in the car and did some exploring.

I found some new areas and instead of trying to find the perfect picture I was able to enjoy God’s handy work. For me there is nothing more calming than water. I took the picture below on a different day as a storm was coming in. I love sitting on those cliffs. I am able to be still and know that God is in control. How can you not feel God's presence when you are surrounded by His creation?

Bob's Favorite Caden Picture

Caden was trying to climb closer to Bob. His little foot was at the base of Bob's throat.

Caden

Bob and I had the honor of watching Caden this past Saturday. He is such a joy to be around and we enjoy every minute we get to spend with him (and Cole and Kristen). Here are some pictures from our morning with Caden. Now I know why he was ready for his nap so early - we wore the poor guy out!

Caden reading to Bob.

More reading time.

Hmm let me think about this for a while..

Oh I get it now!

Golf Lessons. (Keeping his eyes on the ball.)

Outside fun.

I just love pictures like this. You can only imagine the expression on his face. (He was walking towards Bob with the light saber.)

Ready to fight the bad guys.

Let me in. Caden ready to escape back into the cool air.

These shoes were made for walking...

Caden trying to put Bob's shoe on.

Walking towards Bob.

Bob picked Caden up and the little man managed to keep the shoe on his foot.

Caden walkin'

Out of focus but still cute. Caden falling out of the shoes..

Banner

Here is my "banner" after I played with the saturation levels. Not too much difference. I was really blessed when I took this picture. God painted the sky beautifully that freezing cold morning in Kansas.

Saturation

I read somewhere (can't remember where) when taking sunset/sunrise pictures you should adjust the saturation. Well I decided to play with my photo editing software and what a difference it makes. Check these out. This is really the first time I have played with adding saturation and I just might have to play with my previous pictures of sunrise/sunsets. This is the first time I am posting photos that have been edited.

Sunset at Grapevine Lake

I love watching the sunset at the lake. All is calm and peaceful.

Mood Lifted!!

Why do I procrastinate? In my inbox was the best e-mail ever! I am so blessed with the people God has placed in my life!

Clouds

Well God had other plans for me today. No trip to the lake instead He blessed us with thunderstorms. So instead of returning e-mails and voice mails I downloaded the pictures from yesterday.

I just love white clouds painted on the blue sky.

More clouds and sky.

A great place to relax.

I love this picture!
