Father

The other night in my class at church we compared our earthly Dad's to our Heavenly Father. Dan, our FC Studies Pastor, told us so many people today have a hard time seeing God as our Heavenly Father because they have had a poor example here on earth. This is a little hard for me to comprehend because God blessed me with an awesome father.

Looking back at my childhood I can see clear examples of his sacrifices, his unconditional love, his devotion, his attention, his presence, his time, and on and on. No, he's not perfect but his love for me gives me a tiny glimpse of my Heavenly Father's love for me. Thank you, Dad, for being such a loving Daddy.

Tractor (the John Deere display at the State Fair)

Peppers

Saw these cool pepper plants at the fair. I have a history of killing plants and I wonder if these would survive me.?.

The State Fair of Texas (Through My Eyes)

Big Tex welcoming us to the State Fair.

My Dad and Bob eating the first corny dogs of the day!

The new camaro. (NICE)

My Dad drinking lemonade.

Corn - what else does a boy from Nebraska want to eat?

Terry cooling off her corn.

The first bite.

What should we ride?

Not this! (Bob is afraid of the ride and my dad said the line was too long.)

Not Me Monday

It's time again for "Not Me" Monday hosted by MckMama.

I did not go to my front door and try to open the door with my car fob (clicker). I did not stand at the front door wondering why it wouldn't open and why the horn on my car beeped every time I tried to open the house door.

I did not get so tired during a work training session that I almost fell asleep. (My eyes were closed and I was so close to falling asleep that it took everything within me to open my eyes.)

I did not look for the bags for my food saver for who knows how many minutes only to find them in the machine.

I did not drop my phone in Starbucks causing it to "break" into three different pieces. (Bob - this did not happen while I was trying to balance two drinks, two marshmallow squares, and my phone. Do you notice a pattern Starbucks = dropped phone. I just need to leave the phone in the car.)

I did not wear my sunglasses on Saturday night just because I forgot my case and didn't want them to get scratched. And Bob did not look at me like I was nuts. Nope Bob is the "perfect" boyfriend and completely understands the rational behind everything I do. LOL!

Happy Birthday Bob

Happy Birthday to the best guy in the world. (Just my bias opinion.)
You are a blessing from God and I thank God for you daily!

(EF - Bob agreed to this picture just for Caden.)

Char

Must get the hat on.

This is how we move furniture.

Let's go this way!

Don't you just love baby hands?

Will you guys stop talking I'm ready to go.

And the potato goes in here.

Toddler Shoes

I just love the kids that these shoes belong to. They are great kids with great parents. :)

Not Me Monday

It's time again for "Not Me" Monday hosted by MckMama.

I did not forget to call my grandmother on her birthday even after my sister called me to remind me. And when Terry called to remind me about grandma's birthday she also reminded my that my brother's birthday was on Friday. I did not forget to call him on his birthday. Nope, not me.

I did not share my "marshmallow square" with Mia the pup. People food is not good for puppies and I would never give her people food. Not me.

I did not move all of the furniture into one corner only to realize the cleaner was in the bathroom. The bathroom door was blocked by all of the furniture. Then, I did not move all the furniture back to the other side of the room just so I could get the cleaner. Not me, I'm more organized that that!

I did not in one day eat a corny dog, nachos, a turkey leg, ice cream cone, and cotton candy. Who would so much bad stuff in one day? (Only once a year at the State Fair.)

Not Me Monday

It's time again for "Not Me" Monday hosted by MckMama.

While sitting at Starbucks my dog, Maddox, did not tip the table over causing my frappacino and phone to fall on the ground. My new phone did not bounce on the concrete only to land in the spilled frappacino. Not my dog. My pups are well behaved or so I keep telling myself!

Bob and I did not get completely turned around at Medical City in Dallas in which we managed to get "locked out" of building "A" causing us to walk around the other buildings just to get back to where the car was parked at building "D" late at night. And we did not get to meet a sweet little baby boy that night named Jackson Stone. Nope, not us.

Bob and I did not embarrass Kristen at the football game this weekend. We did not sit in the stands with proud smiles on our faces, giving her thumbs ups and clapping for her. We would never embarrass a seven year old like that.

Do you know how to share?

Mia and Maddox do. They both wanted to chew on the same toy and after some tug of war they decided to share the toy.

Rough Week

These pictures were taken on the night of the duvet cover incident. The pups looked so sad that I let them sleep with me.

"Don't know if I can handle another day like this. Maddox chewed on my ears and then we got into trouble. My Marty sent me to time out. She has never sent me there before."

"Marty, I'm sorry I ate your duvet cover but I just couldn't resist those little dangling things. They just taste so good!"

Not Me Monday

It's time again for "Not Me" Monday hosted by MckMama.

I did not unplug my alarm when I could not find the snooze button in the dark. This did not cause me to run around like a wild woman just to get to work on time.

I do not, do not make Bob check my blog, facebook, or his e-mail just to find out what I did during the day instead of verbally telling him about my day.

I did not talk on my cell phone in a school zone that clearly states no hand held phones. I did not tell myself this was ok since the bell for school had already rung, there were no kids around, and most importantly there were no cops around. Not me, I'm a law abiding citizen!

While cleaning out the fridge I did not empty the contents of the containers and then put the empty containers back in the fridge so I didn't have to deal with them. I did not convince myself that this was the most logical thing to do because if I put them in the sink and didn't rinse them then the house would start to smell. And I did not leave them in the fridge for the majority of the week.

I did not come home on Wednesday to find this lovely present from my dogs. I also did not completely lose it when I saw this. Then I did not start calling people and when nobody answered I did not call Bob since he was on his way to his grandmothers funeral. I would not do that it's only a duvet cover. After I calmed down I did not freak out again over how much fringe costs (More than I paid for the duvet cover.)

"Put Me In Coach I'm Ready to Play"

Helmet on. Check.

Football. Check.

This Close

Mom, I was this close to a touchdown!!!

Rocking the Night Away

Bob is still out of town so how did I spend my Friday night? I was blessed to spend the evening with my favorite 20 month old. We played basketball, read a few books, and then we rocked the night away.

Caden and I. (Not the best picture quality since it was taken with the camera phone.)

I don't think there is a more peaceful moment than when a baby is asleep in your arms. I love this time with Caden. This little boy has stolen a piece of my heart. He is so sweet and lovable.

I'm not the only one who loves this little boy. When Bob found out I was watching Caden on Friday he asked if EF and DF could move their date night. I told him they were taking Cole and Kristen to a football game and I don't think we could convince the school to change a game just so he could see the little man.

Photos from Bob

Bob has been in Nebraska since Saturday and he sent me these pictures today of his 2nd cousins. (taken by his camera phone)

"Wal Mart sells mermaids" (Kevin with his mermaid)

Kevin smiling for "the brother" (that's what he calls Bob)

"Starting them young" Charlene with her Starbucks drink.

Hmm?

So Bob just called to see if I received the pictures he sent me on our new toys (blackberries). I told him yes and he said "alright then send me a message bye."

Hmm. So does this mean he doesn't want to talk anymore? And instead of sending him a message back why am I blogging about this? Too much technology in my life?

Grandma Ladd

Bob's grandma Ladd went to be with the Lord on 9/25/08. I had the honor of meeting her when we were in Omaha for Christmas. She was such a sweetheart with a soft voice and eyes that spoke of love and gratitude. You will be missed Grandma Ladd.

Lea and Bob with Grandma Ladd.

Happy Birthday Maddox

Today Maddox is three!

His hobbies include:
  • chewing on Mia's ears
  • tearing the eyes out of the stuffed animals with surgical precision
  • climbing the retaining wall
  • barking at dogs as they walk by
  • eating various items (from the collar that Mia wears to duvets)
  • snuggling with his humans (or any other human near him)
  • hanging out at Starbucks
