Not Me Monday

It's time for "Not Me Monday" again. Click on the button above to see who else is playing along.

I did not spend all week thinking of things that I could use for “not me Monday’s” only to forget the majority of them.

I did not sit at Blue Goose with Bob and Terry and text/e-mail them from my new phone instead of talking to them. And they did not text/e-mail me back. I would never do that since that is one of my biggest pet peeves.

I did not spending a good part of my week reading MckMama’s blog from the beginning. Nope, I’m not that big of a dork. OK so I am.

I did not spend the weekend rearranging furniture barefoot. And I did not drop the dresser, the very heavy dresser with a big TV on it, on my foot. My muscles are not sore from all the solo rearranging.

James Wood - 30 Year Celebration

This past weekend Bob and I headed up to Decatur to the 30 year celebration of James Wood. To be in the car business for that many years is pretty amazing.

The first time I met James is when Bob and I were in Decatur visiting with CW and Amanda. They took us by his ranch to show us around. CW let James know we were going to take a drive on his property and he insisted we come in for a minute and then he gave us a tour of his barn and horses. What impressed me the most about James was his love for the Lord and his love for his family.

There were three things that really stuck out to me this past weekend. On the screen it listed about twenty people who have worked for James for 25+ years. I just think that speaks for the way he treats his employees. The second thing I noticed was people from the cleaning crew all the way up to management sweeping the floor. That just spoke volumes to me. Last, but not least, I noticed the people of James Wood. The whole crew is just great. They are they friendliest bunch and they know how to have fun.

Thank you James for letting us celebrate your big day with us!

Pretty Flowers

I have no idea what kind of flowers these are but I thought they were pretty.

Not Me Monday

MckMama is hosting "not me!" Mondays. Basically it is all of the stuff that you "did not" do but really did.

I did not wear the nastiest smelling sweatshirt to church on Saturday and then spend the entire service wondering if the girl next to me was repulsed by the smell. And I certainly did not fret over the sweatshirt so much that I did not pay attention to the service. Then I did not tell myself it was ok to be distracted because I can watch the service online during the week. No, no not I.

I did not push Bob out of the way at church just so I could go and take some pictures of the kids being baptized.

I did not take 657 pictures in one day. While not taking those pictures I did not step in a mound of fire ants that caused me to send my shoe flying into the air while I killed the ants on my foot. Then I did not continuously throw my shoe up against a pole to get the remaining ants off. All this was not done in front of Bob's boss. I would never embarrass the boy like that! (I'm not sure if Felipe saw me or not and I don't want to ask.)

I did not avoid not one but three police officers and take a very scenic route home just because the registration and safety inspection stickers were expired. (I had the registration sticker but did not want to put in the windshield until I got the two other registration stickers off.)

I did not let Bob think he was eating ground beef instead of buffalo meat especially since I know that he only likes "regular" meat.

I did not drop a container full of nuts all over my office floor.

Guess Who?

Guess who's not a happy camper? I just can't stop laughing at this picture. Poor little man just wanted to do his own thing. Bob and I just love this family. Awesome parents = awesome kids!

Guess who's happy now? (Here he is after eating a chocolate chip cookie.)

Baptism

These three just completed an awesome act of obedience. They were baptized tonight.

This act of love brought tears to my eyes. You could see how happy and proud Cole is for Kristen.

Stinky Sweatshirt

Today, while sitting in church, I noticed my sweatshirt stunk. And it stunk bad. At first I thought it was the new scent of the dryer sheets I used. But as I kept smelling my sweatshirt I realized my sweatshirt did not full dry and had a smell that I can not even describe. I wanted to throw it in the nearest trash can but I didn't. As Bob and I were driving to get something to eat I realized that smell, that awful mildewy smell, is probably the same smell that the people returning to their are smelling but on a much bigger scale.

My heart breaks for the those who were in Ike's path. I can not even begin to imagine or fathom what they are go through. From slight damage to no electricity to not even knowing if your house survived the storm. My heart breaks for my family and friends in the Houston/Clear Lake/Galveston areas.

As I sit here all I can do is pray. I pray for those who believe will lean on him even more. I pray that those who do not believe in Him will come to know Him through the action of others. I pray for renewal. Not for the cities that were destroyed but for the hearts of those who call those cities home.

Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12:22-26

Misc. Pictures

Adam's "boo boo"

On the last Saturday in EP the boys spent the morning golfing. I was out driving around when I get a call from Bob asking if I am with Nena. No, but I am close to the house. He let me know Adam got a "little boo boo" and they could not get a hold of Nena. I told him I would go to the house and have Nena call them.

How did this happen?

Bob did the best recreation and I sooo wish I had it on camera. Here it is to the best of my memory.

Adam sitting in the golf cart talking to Ryanne. Oh Ryanne I miss you so much. Only nine more holes until we can be together again. I have your name on my ball. Oh Ryanne....

Bob and Mike standing on the tee box while waiting for the group in front of them to clear out. Mike is lightly swinging his club back and forth (can you see where this is going?) Hey Mike how's it going?

According to Bob, Adam is now making his way to the tee box and is in a lovesick daze. He is thinking about Ryanne and how much he misses her that he fails to see the golf club and walks right into it.

Bob pretending he caused Adam's injury.

Pictures from our walk

I love going to FC just to walk around the campus. It is so peaceful and quiet.

The ducks started to take off...

The pups at FC

Last night Bob and I went to Andy Brown looking for a football game but I think we were at the wrong place so we ended up taking the pups to our church for a little walk. Bob was able to get both pups to sit on a rock while I snapped the following pictures.

"Mia look at me."

Nope she'll just look in the other direction.

I snapped this as whe was turning her head. It's the closest thing I have to both of them looking at the camera.

Bob and his knowledge of diapers...

A few minutes before I put Caden down for the night I gave him his drink of water to which Bob said "Marty, he's going to have to potty during the night." Well, that's ok. He wears diapers.

Then a few minutes later he wanted to know if Caden was wearing "Old Navy" diapers. Nope those would be his pajama bottoms.

(EF - right now your little girl and Bob are having a splits contest)

Where were you?

I was at work. Raquel's mom called to say some idiot had crashed his plane into the World Trade Center. We started laughing. We thought it was funny that somebody would crash into a huge building. How blind must the guy be? We turned the radio on and heard the news that a second plane hit the other tower.

Now we know something is wrong. We rush to the lounge area and are stunned at what we see. Our beloved country was under attack and all we could do was watch in horror. We went back to our desks and rotated turns watching the news in the lounge.

Mike walked in they have hit the Pentagon and there is still a plane unaccounted for.

It was now my turn to go watch the news and as I walked into the room the first tower started to collapse. I was in shock. All I can remember is tears flooding my eyes and one of the guys giving me hug.

The rest of the work day was a blur.

Once I left work I noticed how quiet everything was. I worked right by DFW. No planes in the air. It was down right odd.

After I left work I went to my aunt's house. I just need to be around the kiddos (Rachel was 2 and Ryan was 15 months). I took Ryan for a walk outside and he kept pointing up at the air and shaking his head no. He loved to look at the planes and even at his young age he knew something was not right. I lost it. It took everything I had and then some not to break down. I just told him there were no planes in the sky that night. Rachel was down and kept telling Becky she was sad but didn't know why. I helped her get the kids ready for bed and then I went home.

When I got home I just lost it. I turned on the news and sat there in complete shock. I felt like I was in a very bad dream.

Rockband

Adam and Amber got Rockband for the wii for their birthday. Here they are opening their present on 8/25. The next day Eric decided he wanted to check it out so he put it together and the boys played late into the night.

Eric on the microphone.

Bob on drums and Adam playing the guitar. Bob is laughing because he read an article earlier saying that some 16 year old dropped out of school to do this. He was wondering how anybody could make any money off of this.

The next day (Wednesday) we adults (Nena, Bob, Eric, and I) played until the kids came home from school. Then they joined us for some fun. This game is addicting.

Amber on drums. She mastered the guitar..

So tired but must keep playing! This is Nena in the early morning hours of what is now Thursday playing the guitar.

I tried to play the instruments but I found out very quickly I have NO music ability whatsoever! Bob dubbed me the "Elaine Benes" on drums. (From the episode where she tried to dance - he said that is what I looked like trying to play the drums.)

I have decided to buy the game when the new version come out in November. I have to practice before I go back. I can't keep making them fail out...

Facebook Addict

I have so much to blog about but I find myself using my "computer time" on facebook. I'm so addicted to it that I convinced Bob he needed to be on it too.

So hopefully this weekend I can upload my pictures from El Paso and blog about my week there. It was a blast!
